Participate in the World Family

hen you read stories in IFmag, maybe you are as impressed as I am of the world outreach of the families. Through adoption of a child from a foreign country or merging of two cultures through matrimony, we read of adventurous, bold, courageous people who have taken the supreme step in bringing the world together.
The purpose of this missive is to express some ideas for those who cannot take that supreme step. You can participate in the world family by doing a proxie adoption of a child who never enters your home, stays in the orphanage and accepts you as
a Mother/Father.
You might be thinking of those plans aired on television where you adopt a child, receive maybe one card a year. Now, with the Internet, you can get a lot closer to these kids. Once a month Thien An Orphanage in Can Tho City Vietnam, contacts me through Yahoo Messenger. Through their webcam, I see my two orphans, talk to them and cultivate my Father Son/Daughter relationship.
They are only six years old so our communication is limited at this time, but it will improve. The orphanage has regular English instruction. It is very successful because the kids know they can use their English skills with their English parents. Consequently, their instruction means something.
As time goes on, you may want to visit Vietnam and the orphanage. You will be welcomed as a hero. You are a hero to these kids. Get ready for a rush and hugs that go on and on.
The real satisfaction for me is when you see your child go on to a successful career, start their own family and help make this a better world.
